Catherine, a young and aloof law student living in present-day New York City, has a serious addiction. She is a serial cat-fisher, using her intricate web of fake relationships to hide from everything, including her hipster and pompous boyfriend as well as her addiction to Kratom. However, everything is flipped on its head when suddenly, everyone she meets starts to recognize Catherine and claim that they have deep personal connections to her. Even resorting to violence and aggression to prove that they are right.

A timid Polish immigrant, named Yuri, on his first day in Gilded Age New York, accidentally gets shipped off to rural Utah. While trying to find a way to get back, he is taken under the care of a mysterious Mormon man, named Malachi, and his family. As Yuri learns more about Malachi and his family, he finds that there is more to this typical American family than meets the eye, and before he knows it, he is intertwined with them. To the point where he doesn’t know where Yuri begins and Malachi and his psychological schemes end.
